I'm delighted that Whitsun Gloves has been selected for the prestigious Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize 2023.
​The exhibition opens in London on 28th September and will tour the UK until summer 2024.

AMORPHOUs carbon

This method of drawing with smoke is technically known as 'fumage'. I use a burning beeswax taper to draw with 'amorphous carbon'  (more commonly known as 'soot'). For me, this elusive, difficult medium captures the fragility and transience of life, and of family and collective memories fading back through time. ​
